Reflections Media Kit

The Saskatchewan Wildlife Art Association (SWAA) was formed in 1986 by local artists seeking to increase the exposure and acceptance of wildlife art; they became incorporated as a non-profit in October 1999. Since that time the membership has grown in include members from across the province and beyond, with each year bringing promising new artists to the public's attention. They have a wide variety of interests from painting, drawing and photography to bird carving, sculpture and relief.

In 1990 Garry Rector and Kirk Dyck approached SWAA to start an annual show: The Reflections of Nature. Many felt that SWAA was not in a position to fund such an endeavour, but they were determined and they “put their money where their mouth was” and paid for that first show held at The Saskatoon Inn November 2 – 4, 1990.

That show was a success and has grown to include all art with nature as a focus including landscape & floral, realistic & non-realistic, caricatures & fantasy as well as domestic animals and wildlife.
Artists come from all ages and skill levels: beginner to advanced & open. Artists do not have to be a member to participate in the show. Reflections now includes auctions, demo's, events, vendors, workshops and displays along with the competitions. The highlight of the show is the Gala Wine & Cheese event with the feature artist, auctions and live music. The show has outgrown its original venue and now takes place each year at Prairieland Park.
