Wiring Paintings

All work entered into Reflections Art Festival Competition MUST be ready for display.  We take every precaution to ensure that there is no damage to artwork. We must insure that the wire is firmly and properly attached to your piece to lessen the possibility of the wire slipping off the piece. Ensuring that actual picture framing wire is used lessens the possibility of the wire or string or cord breaking.

Strong braided WIRE is to be used to hang paintings and photos.  NOT string.  NOT single strand wire.  A recommendation of using wire that is strong enough to hold 4x the weight of the piece is a good guideline.

Sawtooth hangers ARE NOT acceptable. Paintings MUST be wired.

Proper d-rings or eye screws must be used to string the wire. Nails or screws without a loop or eye to hold the wire ARE NOT acceptable.

These fasteners must be securely fastened to the frame or painting and the wire must be securely strung through the eye of the fastener to ensure that it does not slip out.

We do not have enough volunteers to help you wire the art but we will have wiring supplies available for you to wire your art at a fee of $5.00/piece.

Here are a few examples we found on YouTube of acceptable wiring techniques:
